Linguistic Validation of COAs: partnership collaboration
Ensuring integrity and validation of translations
When translation of a questionnaire is needed, the linguistic validation process ensures the integrity and validation of the original questionnaire properties are maintained and respected.
In addition to facilitating access to the original questionnaire and available translations, Mapi Research Trust offers the option to coordinate the production of new translations with a privileged partnership with its sister company ICON Language Services. They are a pioneer in the field, and apply this rigorous methodology to produce new translations.
In close collaboration with the author, the objectives of this partnership are:
- Obtain high-quality translations suitable for use in international clinical research and projects
- Produce one official validated translation per language and country that is conceptually equivalent to the original questionnaire. Thus retaining its measurement properties so that the integrity of the questionnaire remains intact
- Provide translations that are culturally relevant, acceptable, and easy to understand by the target population within each country
- Ensure consistency and comparability across languages, allowing safe and secure international data pooling and comparison across countries.
Author benefits from the Mapi Research Trust/ICON Language Services partnership includes the guarantee of high quality linguistically validated translations, and development by an experienced team that is familiar with the questionnaire specificities centralized at Mapi Research Trust.
