2. Distribution of translations:

MAPI Research Trust has been contracted by GL Assessment, the copyright owner and publisher of the HADS, for the international distribution of the HADS translations.
To receive a copy of the needed translation(s) from MAPI Research Trust, you must first register with GL Assessment and pay the access fees.

Then, please provide MAPI Research Trust with a copy of the Memorandum of Agreement countersigned by GL Assessment.

    A. Access to existing translations (see also #3 Translation Agreement)

User is required to complete and sign a User Agreement in which specific conditions required by the copyright owner are detailed.

Please contact MAPI Research Trust for the list of existing HADS translations (validated or not validated).

carre6 Access fees for existing validated translation(s): 

Access to the translations of the HADS is subject to the following per-study access fees :

- In not-funded academic research (1) and individual clinical practice: free of charge 

- In funded academic research (2): 200 €* per available language version [100 €* are access fees for MAPI Research Trust; 100 €* are Royalty fees for GL Assessment]

- In commercial studies (3) involving "for-profit" organizations: 700 €* per available language version [350 €* are access fees for MAPI Research Trust; 350 €* are Royalty fees for GL Assessment]

* excluding VAT

(1) Not funded academic research: if the project is not explicitly funded, but funding comes from overall departmental funds or from the University or individual funds then fees are waived.

(2) Funded academic research: projects receiving funding from commerce, government, EU should anticipate paying the corresponding fees.

(3) Commercial studies (industry, CRO, any for-profit companies).


    B. New Translations or additionnal linguistic validation work on existing translations

The HADS has already been translated into various languages. However, most of the existing translations have not been validated or have not undergone a full linguistic validation process and additional work may be necessary. If not available in the language(s) required, a Linguistic Validation must be undergone.

Please contact MAPI Research Trust for list of existing translations (validated or not validated).


Conditions to translate:

To be granted permission to translate the HADS, please complete the HADS Translation Agreement.

The Translation Agreement shall complement the User Agreement.
All HADS translations must be conducted in close collaboration with MAPI Institute in Lyon, France and with GL Assessment who jointly developed translation guidelines to fit the HADS specificities. GL Assessment owns the copyright on any new translation (refer to the User and Translation Agreements for more detailes about conditions of use)

  1. Commercial and/or International studies
    In order to undertake the linguistic validation of the HADS questionnaire, funds are needed to support the whole translation process.   2. Academic translations / Not funded research and Evaluation studies
    If funds are not available, HADS translation guidelines will be provided to allow academics and clinicians to use the HADS in their institution.
